With new coach Andy Steger at the helm and a roster not intimidated by playing on the road, the SNC men's soccer team put together weekend wins at Ripon College Saturday, and St. Mary's Sunday to complete a weekend sweep. The Knights looked to their veteran leadership and stifling defense to outscore their opponents 9-2 over the weekend. With those two key wins the Knights improve their record to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in Midwest Conference play.

On Saturday the Knights squared off against conference rival Ripon College. They seemed to be no match for the team as the Knights easily won with a score of 6-0. Adam Sanchez led the Knights with two goals in the contest and keeper Noah Davis posted a three-save shutout. The Knights outshot Ripon 30-6, cinching their conference play record.

The next day the Knights played at non-conference opponent St Mary's University. This was a much closer game with the Knights coming out on top 3-2. Nick Hren scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Adam Sanchez to propel the Knights to victory. They outshot the Cardinals 19-6 in route to their third consecutive win, and improved their non-conference record to 5-3.

On Oct. 11, the Knights began a stretch of five straight Midwest Conference games. The first two of five are on the road at Grinnell College and Knox College before returning home to Minahan Stadium to play their final three conference games, ending conference play.

With a three game winning streak to build off of, and a conference record of 3-1 the team is ready to take control of the conference. The Knight's final three conference home games will be critical if they want to keep pace with conference leader Carroll University. If the Knights can take care of the rest of their conference schedule it will put them in a great position for the Midwest Conference Tournament, which begins play the second weekend in November.
