If you thought you knew Todd Wehr before, just wait until you see him now.

If you are an avid reader of the St. Norbert Times, then you may remember an article published last semester outlining the plans for the new and improved Todd Wehr Hall. Well, as plans become reality, moving day is nearly upon us.

As of Feb. 22, the Todd Wehr Hall will officially open, and the once scattered campus offices will start moving into their new homes. Completion of the moving process is projected to be around the end of March.

The Todd will become a central, one-stop shop for student life. Among the many services moving into the building are Campus Ministry, Career Services, Payroll, Financial Aid, Registrar and more.

Of course, for many students, all of this may be old news. So what can we tell you that might spark your interest? How about a rhetorical tour of the building; you know, just to peak your curiosity?

John Barnes, director of facilities, was kind enough to give me a guided tour of Todd Wehr Hall with hard-hat and safety goggles in tow. Barnes pointed out all of the new features as well as the old (yep, that iconic staircase is still intact).

One of the first things that will strike you as you walk in is the added windows. They open up the space which some may have once described as slightly claustrophobic. Of course, the absence of furniture, bookcases and frazzled students studying for finals helps also, but mostly, it's the windows.

New carpeting does wonders for the interior as well. Warm yellow tones can be found from floor to ceiling and are well accented by the natural light let in by all of those windows.

It would seem that another feature the new hall will help create is a sense of community. The offices moving in will surely enjoy a little more elbow room as well as a sense of camaraderie with colleagues who may have been stationed in other parts of campus.

The St. Norbert bookstore is another addition to Todd Wehr Hall worth mentioning. The start and the end of each semester will become much easier with the bookstore in the center of SNC life. The store moves during spring break, getting a little later start than most, but with students gone the move should get done within that week.

Academic Support Services will also be moving in a little later. They have decided to wait until the summer to move so that tutors and tutees alike will be spared confusion.

Other facilities that will be available in Todd Wehr Hall are several computer stations, testing rooms, conference rooms and several flat-screen televisions that will report class cancelations and other important information.

For those who get nostalgic when thinking of the many study hours logged in Todd Wehr Library, only a few more weeks remain until Todd Wehr Hall becomes the place to be for any and all who are a part of SNC.
