The Green Knights have continued their success during the semester break and into the second semester. The team is led in scoring by senior Denise Heuser, as she is averaging 20 points a game. Another top performer with 172 points on the year is fellow senior Emily Otzelberger, who believes they have been practicing much harder and playing cohesively as a team.
"When teams in our conference play us there's not just one person that they have to shut down because we have such a balance in scoring," she said. "Defensively, we've worked out a lot of kinks in our half court team defense and are pressuring the ball more. We've also worked hard to stop a lot of transition points which has made us stronger."
In response to what is needed to finish the season strongly, Emily said, "We are definitely on pace to finish strongly and we have to keep practicing hard and leaving everything out on the floor come game time. We need to be consistent in games for the full forty minutes and not have let ups."
As a whole, the team has outscored their opponents 1264-950 and by an average margin of more than 16 points. Their field goal percentage ranks among the top of the conference, shooting at .447 percent. Apart from blistering offensive stats, the team prides themselves on defensive greatness. Allowing only 666 points, they're second in the Midwest Conference (MWC), behind Ripon in points allowed.
The team has a few more games left, including what will be a decisive game at home against top MWC team Ripon College. They will be going on a two-game road trip to end the regular season in hopes of a MWC conference championship.
