"We have grown a lot and it's really exciting, and we are definitely not done growing yet," Lauren Senour '12, co-station director of Wisconsin St. Norbert College (WSNC) said.

WSNC is the college radio station, and it has enjoyed a humble existence so far. It has not had a large amount of disc jockeys (DJ's) in the past few years. However, the radio station has experienced a substantial growth within the last two years.

"We had nine DJ's last year. We have 40 doing shows now," Senour added.

Senour is one of two station directors. Her co-station director is Tressa Boldt '10. Both Tressa and Lauren have laid out their future plans for the station.

"We would like to be the main student medium on campus while collaborating with the other mediums on campus," Senour explained.

In addition to the DJ's that have joined WSNC within the last two years, Senour added that a passionate executive board has become the heart and soul of WSNC. Students like Tim Muldoon '12, Brian Curran '12 and Adam Ziegler '10 are only three students of the 13 on the board.

"It is a fairly young group. It is exciting because it will keep our vision going in the next few years," Senour stated.

Senour added that the easiest way for students to listen to programming on WSNC is through Channel 41 on campus or going to the WSNC website.

WSNC recently acquired Channel 41. Channel 41 was primarily used as a slideshow for on-campus organizations to advertise events and fundraisers. Senour says WSNC plans to use Channel 41 to get the word about WSNC out on campus and to help other organizations on campus get the word out about their events. Senour also wants Channel 41 to be the "go-to" medium for students to rely on for news.

In addition to Channel 41, WSNC is now being played in the Campus Center and the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union. Senour says that the goal of the station is to be heard across the campus.

The talent for WSNC produces quality programming on a daily basis. Senour noted that the primetime hours for WSNC from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the veteran DJ's have established strong listening audiences. Shows like "Shenanigans! On WSNC Radio," "He Says She Says" and "Infinity" anchor WSNC with experienced DJ's.

Even though veteran DJ's have developed faithful audiences, the new DJ's have also started to develop dedicated audiences. Shows like "Ramblin' On," "Knights Sports Weekly" and "Wiets and Swiets: The Man View" are just a small sample of the growth of WSNC.

Senour also added that the listening audience for WSNC has increased a "miraculous amount" since 2003 and that is only measuring online listeners.

In addition to strong programming, WSNC is also putting on events across campus. They are hosting the upcoming Knight Stock, a talent show for SNC students that will be headlined by reggae band Unity. Tryouts for Knight Stock will be held March 10 and the actual show will be April 24 in the Campus Center.

WSNC has experienced significant growth over the past few years. From having just nine DJ's last year to 40 this year, hosting events around campus, and acquiring Channel 41, WSNC is becoming one of the top mediums on campus. Senour emphasized that WSNC still wants to collaborate with other organizations and informational mediums on campus as well.

The microphone is hot, and WSNC is the voice behind the microphone.
